The Heart Sutra is the only prayer studied by 8 schools of Buddhism.  Though each school translates in its own way, we can see its importance.  The Heart Sutra actually is an article of philosophy, it is the profound knowledge or view of universe of Buddhism. But it is not limited to be read by Buddhists, people of any religion can read it, and from it one can obtain the profoundest true wisdom

[¯ëYªiù»e¦h¤ß¸g] ¤K¦r¸gÃDªºÂ²³æ·N«ä, ¬O»¡¨Ì[¯ëY]ªº§®ªk×¦æ, ¨Ï¥i«×²æ¥Í¦Ñ¯f¦ºWªº·Ð´oW®ü, ¹F¨ì¦w¼Ö¥©Mªº©¼©¤, Àò±o¤£¥Í¤£·Àªº¯u¤ß¹ê¬Ûªº¹Ò¬É,±o¨ì¥ÃùÚªº©¯ºÖ. ¦¹¤D¯ëYµÐÂĦ¨¦òªº¤ß±o.

The name of the prayer simply tells us that if we can follow the teaching of [¯ëY], then we can be released of all the troubles from birth, old age, sickness, death and sufferings, and achieve peace and happiness, and get to the stage of true and everlasting happiness, life of Nirvana.

The Heart Sutra in English

How should a person be taught who will succeed in accomplishing the deep knowledge gone to the other shore?"

A person who desires to succeed in the accomplishment of the deep wisdom gone to the other side (Prajnaparamita) shall see in exactly this way; for he will have seen that those five heaps are, in reality, by their very nature completely empty

Form is empty. Emptiness is form. The action [karma] of form is not other than emptiness, nor is the action of emptiness other than form. Of this nature are also feeling, cognition, conception, and consciousness

In this way all elements are empty; without essential characteristic, not born, not ceasing, without defilement or expiation of defilement, undiminished, uncompleted. There is no impurity and no purity. There is no decrease and no increase.

In this way, in emptiness there is no form, no feeling, no cognition, no conception, no consciousness

There is no eye, no ear, no nose, no tongue, no body, no mind, no shape, no sound, no color, no flavor, no feeling, nor any property.

There is no boundary of eye...no boundary of mind; nor is there boundary of consciousness

No ignorance; from no cessation of ignorance to no old age and death; including no cessation of old age and death

Of that nature are also suffering, misery and sin, and cessation. There is no path, no wisdom, no attainment, and no non-attainment.

In this way all Buddha, because of their non-attainment, abiding firmly by Prajnaparamita, Since there is no obscuration of mind, there is no fear. they are truly passed beyond confusion, and are finally passed beyond suffering. They transcend falsity and attain complete nirvana.

All Buddha residing in the past, present, and future, through firmness in Prajnaparamita, the mantra of great insight, fully awaken to unsurpassable, true, complete enlightenment. have become buddha of supreme and complete enlightenment.

Thus the great Prajnaparamita mantra, the mantra of great knowledge, the unsurpassed mantra, the unequaled mantra, the mantra that truly assuages all suffering, should be known as truth and wisdom, since there is no deception.

The prajnaparamita mantra is said in this way:

¡§Gate gate paragate parasamgate bodhi swaha¡¨

By thus adhering to Prajnaparamita you shall become accomplished. You will look at everything this way, and therefore rejoice.
